How To Help

Cernosia Family Continues Making a Big Impact

at Bakong Primary School

A very big thank you to the Cernosia Family for transforming a Bakong Primary School building to make it safe and clean for decades to come! The building serves more than 300 students a day and was in dire need of renovation. Thanks to funding from the Cernosia family, that building now has a new roof, clean new tile floors, new ceilings, and new doors and windows.

The students love having a safe, clean space to attend class but we'd be remiss to not mention their favorite part of the project - a new playground designed to not only last longer than their old space but also be safer! The playground, made of metal and brightly colored plastic, is built to last and was immediately swarmed with excited children when opened. It mirrors a similar unit installed in 2020 at Aranh Primary School and CFC hopes to install similar units at each of its primary schools as funding allows.

The renovation and playground project was completed in December, just as children were returning to school again, following a month of procuring materials and hard labor by local residents. The project has the side benefit of employing a number of local residents and providing them with much needed income during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Cernosia Family made its first big impact on the Bakong Primary School community in 2015 when they funded the construction of another school building at the campus. That building, located directly across from this newly renovated building, continues to serve hundreds of students a day.
